Food & Drinks

For a new project that is coming up I will be spending some time in Rotterdam. One of my discoveries from today is LEBKOV. A coffee / lunch bar near the trainstation Rotterdam Central where you can work, drink and eat, watch people pass by through the window or just hang. Also I’m a big fan of their brand identity. Maybe that’s the biggest reason why I recommend this place. I snapped a few pictures. Have a great Monday evening !!!

“Ontwerpstudio Marina van Goor developed the concept of Eenmaal. “We wanted to achieve two things with Eenmaal. The visual identity and the name was done by agency VANDEJONG .First, we wanted to entice people to come to the restaurant and at the same time, to give them food for thought. Eenmaal is a brand that is at the heart of today’s society – we wanted to demonstrate that eating in solitude can be a good thing,” .The name EENMAAL was inspired by its meaning in Dutch which is both ‘one time’ and ‘one meal’, giving the name a subtle twist.”
I bumped into this concept on the internet this morning and couldn’t wait to share it with everyone. How very cool is this? Strong concept, strong branding, strong woman. Love it !!

Burgers on top with some great branding made by the two women behind IL CARDINALE.
You have to try the Holy Quacamole, Classic Cheese and Must be Nuts. This will be the next big thing for 2014. After being just open for three weeks, they are the talk of the town.

WHIMSY & SPICE was founded in 2008 in Brooklyn, New York by the husband and wife team of Mark Sopchak and Jenna Park, who combine their skills of more than 14 years of experience in culinary arts and graphic design to produce a distinctive line of handmade cookies, marshmallows and other sweets. ”

Not only is the food yummy but the branding makes it all more lovely. The whole concept is great.

One of my favorite places to go eat in Brussels is the Italian restaurant, Easy Tempo. Located at Rue Haute, with it’s yummy truffel ravioli and fresh antpasti dish as appetizer. Not only the food is exeptional, they kept the original interior from the former butcher. More info HERE

Mexican restaurant in Charleston USA, Basico. Love their branding and sense for presenting food. Food can function as part of the brand identity. The way you present your ingredients on a platter is as important as a good logo. BASICO WEBSITE.

HERRIOTT GRACE is a venture of father and daughter, and this is their story.
Lance and Nikole Herriott live 3400 kilometers apart: his workshop is in Victoria, British Columbia, and her studio is in Toronto, Ontario. When she first made her home more than halfway across the country, they started to send packages back and forth.
In some of those packages, Lance began to include his own hand carved spoons. He had been collecting wood since the early seventies, and used his best pieces for these gifts. Nikole loved them; their balance and shape, the pieces were made with unmistakable care. She knew they were something special.
One day it dawned on her that others might appreciate her father’s talent as she did, so Nikole asked if he would ever want to share his work. Lance took a few days to think about it. And, after some convincing, he agreed to her plan, but only with people that understood and cared about the time and effort spent on each piece.
She told him, “Leave it to me, I know just the sort.”
And with that, Herriott Grace was born.”
